Some schools of thought believe Reiki was used in ancient times, then suppressed, then brought back into world consciousness again in the early 1900’s. 

To be a Reiki Healer, a person must start with the sincere desire of the heart to be used as a channel.  Healers are initiated by a Master’s touch, and as they work on people, their hands become quite warm because of the powerful energy flowing from them into another.

To be a recipient of Reiki healing, all a person has to do is relax.  The energy itself does all the work, shifting and realigning people on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels according to their individual needs.

Hospitals and other traditional medical centers are starting to incorporate Reiki into their protocol.

A treatment usually lasts from about 20 minutes to an hour, and the person lies on their back on a massage table with practitioners’ hands either on their clothed body, or just above it, depending on each person’s preference.   Most people immediately feel a deep sense of peace and warmth during the Reiki energy exchange. Distance Reiki, where the practitioner mentally directs the flow of Reiki energy to a person, place or thing, is just as effective as a hands-on treatment.

My Reiki Master for level one in 1978 was Virginia Samdahl, the very first Occidental Reiki Master. That means my students are just two generations removed from Mrs. Hawayo Takata’s Reiki teachings. In addition to taking students through attunements and training for all levels of Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, I coordinate Reiki Clinics. I was also instructed in meditation to start the Reiki Professionals Linkedin group which currently has nearly 15,000 healers from around the world.
